Battlefield 6 Review – A Veteran’s Take
Score: 6/10
Single Player
I went into the campaign on the hardest difficulty expecting a challenge and maybe a trophy to mark it—but nope, PS5 only rewards you for completing a single mission on hard. A bit disappointing.
As for the story itself? Surprisingly, I actually liked it. The narrative had enough to keep me engaged, even if it clearly leaned on that familiar Call of Duty-style pacing. Gameplay-wise, it wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t memorable either. It falls into that forgettable middle ground—good enough to finish, but not something I’d ever replay. Even as a collection piece, it doesn’t feel worth revisiting.
Multiplayer
This is where Battlefield should shine, but after playing since BF2, I can say Battlefield 6 doesn’t save the franchise. Instead, it feels like the same old formula dressed up with a new skin.
Maps & TTK: The maps feel more COD-inspired than Battlefield’s traditional open battles, and the time-to-kill system feels inconsistent and frustrating.
Gameplay Flow: Battlefield was never meant to be a squad-only game, yet now the only viable way to survive is through camping. The result? Spawn → kill → die cycles that get old fast.
Lack of Evolution: Hardcore fans like me have always been here, but DICE hasn’t meaningfully evolved the series beyond squads. There’s no real competitive solo play, and without a new hook, it’s hard to see longevity here.
If the new Battle Royale mode flops, BF6 risks fading out just like Battlefield V did at its peak. COD continues to dominate by offering evolving modes, while Battlefield feels stuck in place. Let’s not forget Extraction mode in 2042—that existed because the core formula alone wasn’t enough to keep players engaged.
Verdict
Battlefield 6 is fun in short bursts, but it doesn’t offer long-term depth or meaningful innovation. The campaign is passable but forgettable, and multiplayer is a recycled experience with tweaks that don’t fix its core issues. Hardcore fans deserved more evolution than this.
Final Score: 6/10 – Fun at times, but forgettable.
